How notifications work

Notifications are informational, easy to ignore, and about shared state — not performance or urgency.

Notifications in FreshChores are about shared state. They answer one question: did something change that you might care about?

They come in two kinds.

[Suggestions](article:n-suggestions) point out a task that’s available — an earning task, an occasional one, one set for today, or one for this time of year. They spread across the day and stop once you’ve started or finished anything.

Household activity reports what other people did:

  • Household updates — when someone else takes care of a task, and when a new member joins
  • Added tasks — when new tasks are created by others
  • Task requests — when someone asks you about a task, when a task you asked about is done, or when a request you sent is declined

On iPhone, an iOS Live Activity can also show your active tasks on the Lock Screen while you’re working. That isn’t a notification — nothing arrives, and nothing needs dismissing.

Every kind can be turned off independently from notification settings. None are required.

Notifications contain no praise, no urgency, and no performance tracking. They report what happened — nothing more.
